Materials
Bins of hand-painted solid and textured papers; student collages from lesson 4; student drawings from lesson 1; magazine textures; scissors; glue sticks
Resources
Hand-painted paper made by running a fork through wet paint, corrugated board; flowers/plants
Students should be called by table to select textured papers for their collage. Students may also share the magazine textures brought in for homework.
Students will cut/tear shapes and glue them in place to add detail to their collages.
Post finished student collages.
Ask students to select collages that show an interesting use of
- color to create mood
- texture to create visual interest
Engage students in a reflection by asking questions such as:
- What did you enjoy the most about this collage unit?
- What did you learn about making collages?
